DC Wine Week kicks off October 15-22, 2011.

According to the organizers  of DC Wine Week  DCeventjunkie & Pivot Point Communications "The week long celebration will be dedicated to enjoying wine, wine education and an opportunity to help support the area's growing local wineries, wine shops, wine bars, restaurants and merchants"

  •  DC leads the nation almost every year in per capita sales and consumption of wine.
  •  There are 27 wine trails and over 245 wineries in Maryland and Virginia that contribute to the wine culture of the city.
  • The Washington Wine Academy was voted one of the top five places to study wine by Food and Wine Magazine
