Order your drink using your phone at the Shadow Room

Yesterday ( March 25th) The DC Twestival was at the Shadow Room 2321 K St NW Washington DC. I enjoyed the event there and chanced upon this tent card with instructions on ordering your drink from your phone. I am impressed at this establishment using technology and seems like a convenient tool for customers. Have you used this ? Comments ?

DC’s J&G STEAKHOUSE NOMINATED FOR BEST NEW RESTAURANT FOR 2010 JAMES BEARD AWARDS

J&G Steakhouse was nominated as a semi-finalist for Best New Restaurant for the 2010 James Beard Awards on Thursday, February 18, 2010. As the only restaurant in D.C. proper to be nominated, J&G Steakhouse is one of the semi-finalists selected from 21,000 online entries. Each category will be narrowed down to five finalists on March 22nd by a panel of 400 judges and the winners will be announced at the foundation’s annual gala on May 3, 2010 at Lincoln Center’s Avery Fisher Hall.

Since recently opening its doors in July 2009, J&G Steakhouse has become an esteemed lunch and dinner destination for D.C.’s power-set. Recently Washingtonian Magazine ranked J&G Steakhouse 4th on its 2009 list of Top 100 Very Best Restaurants, citing the Fried Calamari as the #1 “Best Dish” and the famous Warm Chocolate Cake as a “Best Dessert.”

The fast rise to notoriety is largely attributed to Executive Chef Philippe Reininger and his flawless execution of the contemporary cuisine of Jean-Georges Vongerichten’s signature dishes for J&G Steakhouse. Educated at the elite LycĂ©e International des Pontonniers in Strasbourg, France, Reininger’s rich culinary portfolio includes a wealth of experience as the lead member of the opening teams for the new Ritz-Carlton Hotels in Grand Cayman, Istanbul, New Orleans, Osaka, Japan, Millenia, Singapore and Barcelona, Spain. Most recently Reininger was the Executive Chef at The Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Philadelphia, PA.

“It is an incredible honor to be nominated for the James Beard Awards and this is the highest recognition we could ask for. We’re delighted. It’s a testament to how well-received J&G is and how hard we’ve worked to establish an outstanding menu and atmosphere,” says Peter Smith, General Manager of J&G Steakhouse.

J&G Steakhouse is located on Pennsylvania Avenue, within the W Washington, D.C., and offers a worldly collection of steakhouse classics. Premium meats and a global selection of fresh fish are the backbone of the menu, including the highest quality raw items from East and West Coasts, uniquely creative appetizers, as well as prime cuts of meat char grilled to perfection with side dishes including vegetables and potatoes.

To make a reservation at J&G Steakhouse, please call 202-661-2400 or visit www.jgsteakhousewashingtondc.com.  J&G Steakhouse is open daily for lunch from 11:45am – 2:30pm and dinner is served daily beginning at 5:00pm until 10:00pm on weeknights and 11:00pm on weekends.

March 10th Bloggers for Good meet in Loudon

The next Bloggers for Good event will be next Wednesday, March 10 from 5-7 at Buffalo Wild Wings Restaurant in Ashburn (near Wegmans/Target/REI).Bloggers for Good is a grass-roots group that leverages local blog communities to help people meet, greet, and give to a good cause.  BFG events provide a chance to gather in a fun, social setting with a common interest and a bigger purpose.
Erin Rice (Organizer) who Blogs at http://www.suburbanfizz.com/

Our last meet-up accomplished our three core goals:  we met, we networked, and we did "good."  We raised hundreds of dollars forCole's Closet, which helped children with serious illnesses and their families.
This time, I hope we can do more of the same.  Our event will benefit the Loudoun Museum, a great local resource that has suffered lately due to budget cuts and a mold issue. They will be reopening this spring in their repaired historic Leesburg location.
To do the most good, we are asking you to do two things: First, come!  This is a blogger meet-up for bloggers, readers, and friends.  We'll catch up, socialize and network, just like last time.  Secondly, spread the word!  EVERYONE who patronizes the restaurant during our fundraiser will raise money for the Loudoun Museum, since Buffalo Wild Wings is generously contributing a percentage of sales all day to the charity.

Buffalo Wild Wings is located at 21980 Colorado Drive; Dulles, VA 20166-2509.
